A year of intercessions

Our minister, Simon Perry, has written a series of intercessions for use during the church year.

National Adoption Week
(First week in November)

Loving father,
Who has adopted us into your kingdom,
We pray for all the children who endure difficult family experiences.
Those who have been abandoned or bereaved, abused or neglected.
Those whose best hope for a happy life is to be found with new parents.

We pray also for parents who have been separated from their children,
Those who feel they can no longer cope.
Those who have had no example of good parenting.
Those who have themselves have been unfairly treated or abused.

We thank you for social workers who seek to value children and parents in all circumstances, and for the way that your grace is made real through them.

And we thank you for those who have been willing to adopt,
To commit themselves to children,
To offer costly and genuine love.

Loving father,
We thank you for the gifts of life and love which so often we take for granted.
And as we think of all who suffer because of their family situation,
We ask that you will lead them to the assurance, acceptance and wholeness for which they were created.
And show us, who are here only by your grace, to be the living embodiment of your heavenly loving-kindness in down to earth ways
.
