A year of intercessions
Our minister, Simon Perry, has written a
series of intercessions for use during the church year.
The Middle East
Today Lord, we pray for the people of the
Middle East, those who inhabit a land that has witnessed centuries
of invasion, destruction and suffering.
We pray for those who suffer on both sides
of the conflict. For the Lebanese civilians faced with the
constant threat of death, the lack of basic necessities for
living, the hopelessness of escape. From the bloodshed, and
fear and hopelessness, Lord God, bring relief. For the Israelis
who live in fear of rocket attack, who are losing family and
friends, who feel deeply insecure, bring a true and lasting
Shalom.
We pray for all who hunger and thirst after
blood, who seek revenge, who have fostered an insatiable appetite
for destruction, who seek to make the world a better place
by violent means. May they encounter grace and healing.
We pray for the international community,
that leaders would be moved to establish an end to this suffering,
with urgency, wisdom and compassion.
