A year of intercessions
Our minister, Simon Perry, has written a
series of intercessions for use during the church year.
Change the world, Change our lives
God of the poor. We come before you as the
wealthy, and we pray for those without food, without shelter,
without security – that you will bring satisfaction,
warmth, and peace. And as we pray you can ask us how our lives
reflect our prayers for the poor.
God of the outcast. We come before you as
sisters and brothers in Christ, and we pray for the lonely,
the unloved, the ridiculed – that you will bring friendship,
love and encouragement. And as we pray, you can ask us how
our lives reflect our prayers for the outcast.
God of the oppressed. We come before you
as members of a powerful nation, and we pray for the nations
broken by unrest, conflict and war – that you will bring
trust, reconciliation and peace. And as we pray, you can ask
us how our lives reflect our prayers for the oppressed.
God of Creation. We come before you as consumers,
and we pray for those who suffer the effects of climate change,
pollution, and a scarred environment – that you would
change our habits, the level of damage we inflict, and the
level of help we offer. And as we pray, you can ask us how
our lives reflect our prayers for the world.
God of the poor, the outcast, the oppressed,
Lord God of all creation, may we your people, who bear your
name, become a true channel of your peace, an active agent
of your healing, a living ambassador of your gospel for the
world.
