A year of intercessions
Our minister, Simon Perry, has written a
series of intercessions for use during the church year.
Missionary God
Missionary God, we pray for the world you
love so much, the world to which you sent your son, the world
into which you send us as your representatives.
Where people live in the darkness of injustice,
make us living heralds of justice and peace, that your kingdom
would break through and transform the lives of the hungry
and the oppressed, of the downtrodden and the voiceless.
Where people live in poverty, show us how
to become poor in order that we might bring true wealth. May
your kingdom come, to displace the structures that keep the
poor in their place, and the wealthy in their comfort.
Where people live with the consequences of
broken relationships, make us aware of our dependence upon
you. May your kingdom come to restore true fellowship to those
who have been betrayed, those who have hurt others, and those
who are helpless victims of the selfishness of others.
Where people live with no sense of you, make
us faithful witnesses. May your kingdom come to open the eyes
of those who are spiritually blind, that they may encounter
your loving grace that shakes the ground beneath their feet
– and may that grace be a daily reality in our lives.
We long to see your kingdom come, to
be heralds of your kingdom, and to see the fruits of your
kingdom in the world around us. Missionary God, fill us afresh
with your spirit, and our lives may bear the good fruit that
will last.
