A year of intercessions

Our minister, Simon Perry, has written a series of intercessions for use during the church year.

Truth

Spirit of Truth, guide your people into all truth, so that the lives we lead become messages of truth and signposts towards the kingdom.

We pray for students, many returning now to college. We pray that they would know a hunger for truth that eclipses the distractions of college life, the fear of exams, or the desire for career. We pray that they would know an openness to truth that would both challenge and encourage all they meet.

We pray for ourselves, that our desire for truth would be renewed daily. Forgive us when our minds are already made up about the truths you would teach us. Forgive us for allowing our prior commitments and achievements to prevent our genuine search for truth. May we encounter You as one who both comforts and disturbs.

And so may your people be a source of comfort and disruption in our world.
For those who think too little of themselves, bring your living truth
For those who think too much of themselves, bring your living truth
For governments that hide injustice behind spin, bring your living truth
For businesses that mislead and manipulate, bring your living truth.
For those living in the confusion of a world without answers, bring your living truth.
For those who know they have all the answers, bring your living truth.

By your grace, as we consider:
Our lives and our words,
Our deliberate efforts and our knee-jerk reactions,
Our bold claims and our throw-away comments,
May all these things be channels of your living truth.

Spirit of Truth, lead us into all truth.
