A year of intercessions
Our minister, Simon Perry, has written a
series of intercessions for use during the church year.
Romans 8
Creator God, we praise you for the work of
your creation, for in you we live and move and have our being.
We pray for our world, which waits in eager expectation for
the sons of God to be revealed. We wait eagerly for the whole
of creation to be liberated from its bondage to decay. So
may we who have the first fruits of the Spirit be led by your
Spirit as we pray for the whole of creation.
Where a fragmented creation leads to a damaged
environment, global warming, and scarcity of natural resources,
teach us how to be good stewards of the world, how to live
responsibly in the world, and how to care for the little people
whose suffering goes unheard.
Where a fragmented creation leads to the
hostility that nurses a grudge, the pride that hinders wholeness,
the break-up of friendships and families, we pray for the
little people whose suffering goes unheard. May your loving-kindness
be made known in our world, in our church, in our lives.
Where a fragmented creation leads to suspicion
and distrust between powerful nations, war and conflict, hunger
and violence, we pray for the little people whose suffering
goes unheard. Bring them we pray to the wholeness and peace
for which they were created.
In a creation that is in bondage to
decay, may we who have the first fruits of the Spirit, be
led by your Spirit in bringing liberty, and may our prayers,
our words and our actions serve to help and not to hinder
your work of reconciling the world to yourself.
