A year of intercessions

Our minister, Simon Perry, has written a series of intercessions for use during the church year.

Freedom from Law

Lord, giver of life, bring us beyond the laws which define us to the new life that liberates us. Where there is hopelessness, frustration and despair, bring your gifts of wholeness and liberty and life in all its super-abundance.

For those who benefit from economic laws and rules and systems that have been inherited, bring the light of truth, so that they may see when other people suffer from those laws. May those with the power to change unjust laws, also be given the desire to change them.
Break through the darkness of death, and lead your people to live in the light

For those who suffer from systems that they do not understand, whose life seems to them eternal struggle against chronic poverty, may you bring hope. Hope through the challenging of injustice, and hope that defies and transforms all suffering.

Free us from the laws we create, but which fail to bring true freedom. Bring your children to the fullness of life for which we have been created, that we might mediate your living truth, reflect your glorious light and proclaim the new life for which all people have been born into this world, the world you loved and gave yourself to save.
