Frank Brown
When did you first come to Bloomsbury,
and why?
I first came to Bloomsbury to go to the John Clifford Society
in 1959 soon after arriving at Imperial College to study chemical
engineering. It was about 1 year later that I started regularly
attending the evening service and later both.
My first motivation was the large number of young people many
of them very attactive girls. Coming from a village chapel
and small town Baptist church I found the preaching and theology
kept me from wandering and gave me a deeper understanding
of what Jesus had called me to be.
What do you admire and enjoy
most about the church?
At Bloomsbury there is so much to admire but also things that
frustrate. I have been blessed by great challenging preachers
and by the polyglot congregation that gather from all corners
of God's world each Sunday. I get frustrated by our central
location and busy congregation and how this prevents great
teaching events like 'Disciples on the Way' being well attended
particularly by younger members.
What one aspect do you especially
love?
The friendliness of everybody.
What do you hope for the
future of Bloomsbury?
I want to see Bloomsbury discover God's will for the future
and be able to play a small part in building a larger stronger
but caring Church. I hope we are able to make an impact in
the redevelopment of Central Saint Giles.
Do you have a memorable moment
or event at the church?
I remember with joy Barbara's Baptism and our wedding a few
years earlier.
