John Beynon
When did you first come to Bloomsbury, and why?
In 1991. We had recently moved to central London, and my wife and I were looking for a church where we hoped to feel "comfortable".
What do you admire and enjoy most about the church?
The quality of the services (thought-provoking sermons, good music and congregational singing, no-nonsense approach), and the church's commitment to practising as well as preaching Christianity.
What do you hope for the future of Bloomsbury?
That it will continue its strong tradition of challenging preaching and attract an increasing number of people of all ages and from all walks of life into its fellowship.
Do you have a memorable moment of an event at the church?
I still vividly remember the Morning Service that was broadcast on Radio 4 a few years ago. Its theme was "Where cross the crowded ways of life" and the way it was put together, with readings, reflections, prayers, choral and congregational music, encapsulated for me the best that Bloomsbury offers. I will also never forget the choir's singing of Parry's great anthem, "I was glad when they said unto me", at the induction service of Brian Haymes, our previous minister. It was a privilege to be present.
