Seyan Tills
Sent to a Baptist Sunday School
at a young age - probably to get me out of the way for a few
hours - church has played a significant part to life ever
since.
Baptised at 15 and elected a Deacon at 20
in my home church I was actively involved in youth and outreach
ministry complemented by eight years service as caretaker
at our local primary school.
My journey as a Christian led me to join
the local Anglican parish family and I served for several
years on the Parochial Church Council and as a Churchwarden
working in the areas of outreach, administration and community
activities.
Exploring a call to full-time ministry in
the church I served as Pastoral Assistant for three years
in a parish on the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border, leading
worship, preaching, conducting funeral services and also serving
as the village 'lollipop man' which made some useful connections
between the church and the community.
Coming to London, first to the American Church
and most recently in 2003 to Bloomsbury, 'ministry' has taken
many and varied forms. I initially retained my Anglican links
serving as Churchwarden at St Pancras Church and I continue
to serve as a Governor of a Church of England Primary School
in Camden where I am currently Chair.
With the impending departure of our former
Minister, I and the church here at Bloomsbury prayerfully
considered my role amongst them which sees me now as Ministry
Assistant.
Having helped keep a steady hand on the tiller
during our interregnum I support the ministry as a member
of the team keeping an ever watchful eye on the administration
and operation of the building.
Living on site, I have a passion for the
building to be a resource that is fully used by the community
- our regular worshipping family and neighbours who live and
work around us. The challenges that present themselves to
engage with a wide variety of people, young and old, rich
and poor, people of faith and of none, who pass through our
doors daily make the ministry I offer rewarding.
