CHURCH SINGING OPPORTUNITY BURSARIES 2025-6 Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church is seeking to appoint four Sunday morning choral scholars. We are an inclusive church in the heart of London’s West End. Our liturgical style is dignified and thoughtful, with music at the heart of our worship. Our repertoire spans centuries of musical tradition, from classical works to contemporary compositions. The church houses a magnificent pipe organ, used regularly in Sunday services alongside other instruments, and featured in monthly recitals, an annual Organ Day, and other instrumental and choral events. We are offering four bursaries , one each for soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, for the academic year 2025–2026. Bursary details: Each choral scholar will receive £500 per term (£1,500 per year). The commitment will be for 42 Sundays across the year, plus a small number of additional services by negotiation (e.g. Easter, Advent, and a Carol Celebration in mid-December). Key responsibilities include: Singing with the regular choir on Sunday mornings during term time Attending a rehearsal at 10:00am before the 11:00am service Participating in occasional seasonal and special services We expect applicants to be current university or conservatoire students, or recent graduates, and likely to be first-study singers. Scholars will also have access to the church’s musical resources, including a concert grand piano and practice facilities.
